During the early phases of the project I contributed to the design and prototyping of the mechanics for Bugs N' Guns.

In this page you will find detailed explanations of the main mechanics and core loops, as well as the intention behind the design of the game.

summary and core loop

I worked on defining the experience pilars, core loop and objectives for the project along with the rest of the design team.

co-op based design

In oposition to a tendency in competitive multiplayer games, we decided early on to design a cooperation based gameplay, where players would depend on each other to achieve their objectives. Inspired by games like It Takes Two, we developed mechanics to ensure the desired cooperation.

mobile defense focused

As an adition to the co-op gameplay, we decided to take on a gameplay often overlooked and forgotten: Mobile defense missions.

We placed the focus on a gameplay based around defending, what brought many challenges as well as a possibility for innovation on the genere.

documentation

I set up a wiki-like sistem for documentation using Notion and stablished the tools used by the rest of the design team to register all of the design documents to ultimatedly create a GDD.
